Job summary

Kathy Kuo Home in New York City is seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join our on-site design team at the Tribeca showroom. As Lead Designer on projects, you will steer the creative direction, sourcing, and overall design vision, supported by our internal team handling procurement, installation, and after-sales support.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years in high-end residential or commercial design, a degree in interior design, NYC-based, and strong skills in Photoshop,

• New York City based with travel to client sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead design concepts, space planning, FF&E, and renderings.
• Manage high-value client relationships from concept to install.
• Oversee material sourcing within budget.
• Maintain timelines and project deliverables.
• Communicate clearly with stakeholders throughout the lifecycle.

OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join our in-house design team on-site at our Tribeca showroom. As Lead Designer on projects, you will be empowered to steer the creative direction, sourcing, and overall design vision, supported by our talented internal team. Our internal team supports asset creation and handles procurement, logistical coordination, installation, and general after-sales support. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-end residential and commercial design across varying budgets, as well as experience managing projects and teams.

Applicants should have excellent communication and organizational skills, sales experience, and outstanding people skills. Your role is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to create functional and beautiful spaces for our clients, drawing from our exceptionally curated product line at Kathy Kuo Home.

This is a full-time, New York City based role. You will work out of our Tribeca showroom and travel to client homes for design meetings, walkthroughs, and installations. Our projects are a combination of in-person and virtual design meetings as each project requires.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the creative direction and design concepts for projects, developing inspiration boards, space planning, FF&E, schematic design, construction documents, presentations, and renderings.
• Serve as the main point of contact for high-value clients, leading design projects from conception through installation.
• Oversee the sourcing of materials and furnishings within the client budget.
• Manage timelines and deliverables, ensuring projects meet client expectations and standards of excellence.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Partner with the Project Management team on procurement, fabric and finish samples, and vendor coordination.
• Travel to client homes and job sites for design meetings, walkthroughs, and installations.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and associate designers through collaborative client engagements.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 7+ years of experience in interior design, with proven experience leading high-quality residential or commercial design projects.
• B.A. or B.S. in Interior Design or a related field.
• New York City based, with the ability to travel to client homes and project sites as needed.
• Highly proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
• Highly proficient in AutoCAD and/or SketchUp.
• Rendering capabilities in SketchUp required; experience in furniture modeling is a plus.
• Extraordinary verbal and visual communication skills around functional and emotional design solutions.
• Established sourcing network and knowledge of industry suppliers.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• Experience managing design teams or collaborating with support staff.
