Job summary

Chelsea Piers in New York is seeking a senior-level Architect/Designer to lead interior fit-out projects across our athletic and event spaces, guiding concepts from design through construction. This role collaborates with development and operations teams to move projects from concept through construction with hands-on responsibility for drawings and coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field
• 5-7 years of relevant professional experience, ideally including interior architecture or interior design projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp
• Strong sense of interior design and space planning - able to turn around studies informed by site constraints, design goals and cost
• Working knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and construction documentation standards
• Strong communication and organizational skills; comfortable managing multiple projects at once
• Experience with sports, fitness, hospitality, or other high-traffic commercial interiors is a plus
• Professional licensure (RA) or progress toward licensure is a plus, though not required at this level

Responsibilities

• Develop interior design concepts and space plans for interior fitout projects across Chelsea Piers facilities.
• Prepare and coordinate drawings, specifications, and finish schedules using AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
• Collaborate with leadership team, project managers and facility operations staff to carry design intent through to construction or to handoff to external consultants.
• Research and select materials, finishes, furniture, and fixtures suited to high-traffic athletic and event environments.
• Assist with project budgets, schedules, and coordination with vendors and contractors.
• Maintain organized project documentation and drawing sets throughout each project phase.
