Freedom supports the sustainment, modernization, and transformation of more than 100 enterprise business systems that enable tens of thousands of government personnel, industry partners, and prospective employees worldwide. These mission-enabling applications support workforce management, finance, acquisitions, security processing, training, recruitment, logistics, program management, executive decision-making, and other critical business functions across multiple secure environments.

We are seeking a Senior Integration Engineer to join one of our Prime Contracts supporting the Government's Corporate Management Services (CMS) organization. Telework up to one day per week! In this role, you will help design, modernize, secure, and sustain the enterprise applications and platforms that keep the organization operating every day. Working alongside experts in software engineering, cloud computing, DevSecOps, systems engineering, user experience, and enterprise platforms, you'll help modernize legacy systems, automate business processes, integrate commercial technologies, and deliver innovative solutions that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the user experience.

Our diverse and growing team offers the chance to solve complex technical challenges, collaborate with talented professionals, and directly contribute to the technology and services that enable the Government's mission around the world.

As a Senior Integration Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, testing, and deploying innovative cross-domain and integration solutions supporting a mission-critical system. While the role supports the Pega platform, the primary focus will be on implementing cross-domain solutions to securely move and integrate data between environments, as well as developing and supporting microservices-based architectures and integrations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy cross-domain solutions to securely transfer and integrate data between environments
  • Develop and maintain microservices and APIs to support scalable system integrations and enterprise workflows
  • Support and enhance the Pega platform, including integrations, workflows, and service modernization efforts
  • Collaborate with internal teams, architects, and Government stakeholders to gather requirements and define technical solutions
  • Assist in configuring, integrating, and modernizing enterprise services to align with evolving mission and business needs
  • Provide architectural guidance for secure data movement between environments while ensuring compliance with security and governance requirements
  • Partner with platform engineering teams to design, configure, and deploy Pega applications into new hosting environments
  • Participate in system integration activities, troubleshooting, and performance optimization across multiple environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues, providing technical support to internal teams and end-users as needed
  • Contribute to software upgrades, bug fixes, code enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve overall system functionality and reliability
  • Participate in testing activities, including unit testing, integration testing, and quality assurance efforts to ensure reliable and high-quality deliverables
  • Work within an Agile development environment, proactively contributing to team success, technical innovation, and continuous process improvement
  • Collaborate closely with developers, systems engineers, and infrastructure teams to support secure and efficient cross-domain data flows and enterprise integrations
Required Qualifications
  • An active security clearance with polygraph
  • Twelve (12) years of experience in software development/engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline; four (4) additional years of software development experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree
  • Experience developing and supporting RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
  • Experience integrating enterprise applications and services across multiple environments
  • Familiarity with secure data transfer, system integrations, and cross-domain solution concepts
  • Experience working with cloud-based or hybrid environments, preferably Amazon Web Services technologies and services
  • Demonstrated experience leading software development initiatives, mentoring junior engineers, conducting code reviews, and driving technical implementation efforts
  • Understanding of data transformation, data validation, message routing, and integration security patterns
  • Experience working with security architects and accreditation teams to support secure system integrations
  • Ability to analyze customer requirements, identify system improvements, and effectively troubleshoot issues to enhance application performance and user experience
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts, risks, and dependencies clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers, understand their needs, and provide timely and effective support, ensuring high levels of satisfaction
  • Must be able to work during core hours of Monday-Friday 10am-2pm; exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience implementing, configuring, and integrating COTS software solutions within enterprise environments
  • Experience with integrating Pega applications with third-party systems using APIs, middleware, and other integration technologies
  • Familiarity with Agile project management practices, including Scrum or Kanban
  • Experience architecting and supporting enterprise workflow solutions, including process automation, orchestration, and business process optimization initiatives
  • Experience deploying enterprise applications to Kubernetes-based environments
  • Experience containerizing applications using Docker and implementing CI/CD deployment pipelines
  • Experience developing strategies for data movement across security boundaries while maintaining compliance with enterprise security requirements
  • Experience implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, JWT, and PKI-based solutions
