Job summary

Raise is helping a client hire a Senior Integration Architect to lead middleware platform architecture across Linux VM, bare-metal, and container environments. You will own the full middleware product lifecycle, drive automation with Terraform and Ansible, and guide AWS EC2 deployments as on-prem workloads move to the cloud.

Qualifications

• Strong product-level engineering experience with middleware technologies such as IBM WebSphere, WebSphere Liberty, IBM HTTP Server, Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, Red Hat JBoss, Oracle WebLogic.
• Deep knowledge of Java middleware architecture and Linux administration.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible for middleware installation, configuration, patching, and lifecycle automation.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform for repeatable infrastructure provisioning, particularly within AWS environments.
• Experience engineering middleware across VM, bare-metal, and container platforms.
• Strong AWS experience, deploying and operating middleware on AWS EC2 without relying on managed services.
• Experience with Java runtime standards, including Oracle Java and OpenJDK.
• Demonstrated ability to provide architectural leadership while remaining hands-on with middleware products and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Middleware Platform Architecture: Architect and engineer standardized middleware platforms across Linux-based VM, bare-metal, and container environments.
• Product Lifecycle Ownership: Own the full middleware product lifecycle, including packaging, engineering, distribution, automated provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching, and operational support.
• Platform Engineering Standards: Establish clear boundaries between middleware product engineering and application-level configuration.
• AWS Cloud Migration: Design equivalent middleware infrastructure on AWS EC2 as workloads transition from on-premises cloud.
• Infrastructure Automation: Develop reusable provisioning and configuration automation using Terraform and Ansible.
• Platform Standards & Guardrails: Define platform standards, deployment patterns, product guardrails, and operational controls.
• Java Modernization: Support transition from Oracle Java to OpenJDK and establish Java runtime standards.
• Product Evaluation: Evaluate features and configurations against security, resiliency, performance, and supportability requirements.
• Technical Leadership: Provide architectural leadership while hands-on with middleware products, infrastructure, automation, and configuration.
• Operational Support: Contribute to reliability, maintainability, patching, and ongoing support across environments.

Pay Rate: $82.00-$100.00/hour USD, depending on experience

Contract Length: 6 months

Location: New York City, New York

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – candidates must be willing to work onsite 3 days per week at the client's office in New York City or at the client site in New Jersey

Raise is currently hiring a Senior Integration Architect on behalf of our client. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading organization and play a key role in architecting, engineering, and modernizing standardized middleware platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. The successful candidate will provide architectural leadership while remaining hands-on with middleware technologies, infrastructure automation, and platform engineering.

Important: Candidates must be located in the New York City area or be willing to commute to the client's office in New York City or New Jersey 3 days per week.

Description

The Senior Integration Architect will be responsible for architecting and engineering standardized middleware platforms across Linux-based virtual machines, bare-metal, and container environments. This role will own the full middleware product lifecycle, including engineering, packaging, provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching, distribution, and operational support.

The successful candidate will also support the organization's transition from its internal, on-premises cloud to AWS, designing equivalent middleware infrastructure on EC2 and developing reusable infrastructure and configuration automation using Terraform and Ansible.

This position requires a strong combination of architectural leadership and hands-on technical expertise, with the ability to establish platform standards, deployment patterns, operational controls, and clear boundaries between middleware product engineering and application-level configuration.
