Job summary

Bank of America is seeking an experienced middleware engineer to provide end-to-end administration for WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, IBM HTTP Server, and WXS, delivering enterprise middleware projects in a controlled, compliant environment.

You will ensure production stability, manage patches, and develop deployment templates and automation while collaborating with application and testing teams to support SDLC and regulatory initiatives.

Qualifications

5-7+ years of IT experience in middleware/enterprise environments.
Middleware products: Apache, J2EE, Java, JBoss, WebSphere AS, Tomcat.
BPM products: Appian.
Operating System: Linux.
Knowledge of Shell, Python, and Perl scripting.
Understanding of networks and security (HTTP/S, TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, load balancers, firewalls, proxies, B2B links).
Experience with Release Deploy Tools: Ansible, Ansible Tower, XLR, Bitbucket.

Responsibilities

Provide middleware administration end-to-end for enterprise data management tech stacks (WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, IBM HTTP Server, WXS).
Deliver middleware projects and regulatory initiatives with production stability and risk management.
Maintain patching and deployment templates; support Java/Middleware deployments and SDLC coordination.
Design middleware infrastructure/topology for high availability and failover; advise on best practices.
Consult with business partners and technical teams to ensure compliance with standards and policies.
Execute production changes for regulatory releases with precision.

This job is responsible for tool and service designs within a technical domain that enable business strategies in accordance with architectural governance, standards and policies. Key responsibilities include creating infrastructure tools and their integration as a service, facilitating deployment of technical solutions by developing templates, playbooks and automation used during implementation. Overview

Provide middleware administration duties for Data Management Technology (DMTEA), end-to-end, including WebSphere, jBoss, Tomcat, Apache, IBM HTTP Server, and WXS (extreme scale cache); Delivering middleware enterprise projects and regulatory legislative initiatives; Ensuring production stability from an ongoing support standpoint; Ensuring middleware platforms are patched with the most current version of software, helping to manage risk to the customer; Providing Middleware Server administration which includes server installation, configuration, performance tuning and production support; Working with customers (application teams and/or testing teams) on a daily basis and providing Middleware and Java support; Create, maintain and support the application deployment templates; Serving as a J2EE architect and making recommendations on J2EE best practices in application development; Designing Middleware infrastructure and topology design for high availability and failover capability; All solutions must meet all Policy, Baseline, and Standards along with business requirements. Providing technical consultation to other team members and their supported areas; Communicating with business partners at an enterprise level; Interfacing with internal customers and external vendors for consultation at various points of the software development life cycle (SDLC); and, Executing production changes for Bank integrated and regulatory releases with precision.

Responsibilities

Provides subject matter expertise and consulting services on a range of technologies and assists Technical Analysts and Infrastructure Engineers to ensure that technology solutions comply with enterprise system design and engineering standards
Assists with translating business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks for deployment in compliance with architecture standards and policies
Assists in the evaluation of reference models, blueprints and playbooks to ensure they are fit for purpose
Develops software solutions to address manual and repeatable work or inefficient processes
Conducts on-site evaluations of third-party products being considered for firm adoption
Promotes an inclusive and healthy working environment and helps to resolve organizational impediments/blockers
Contributes to the creation/selection of functional and non-functional product evaluation requirements within and across domains

Required Qualifications

Information Technology professional with 5-7+ years of experience
Middleware products: Apache, J2EE, Java, JBoss, WebSphere Application Server, Tomcat
BPM products: Appian
Operating System: Linux
Java/Container Framework Knowledge
Knowledge of Shell, Python, and perl scripting
Understanding of Network infrastructure (HTTP/S, TCP/IP, TLS,DNS, Load-balancers, firewalls, proxies, B2B links)
Experience with Release Deploy Tools: Ansible, Ansible Tower, XLR, BitBucket
Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, preferably in a Computer Science or related field
