Job summary

General Motors is seeking an ADAS/AV Platform Senior Integration and QA Engineer to shape testing strategies for next‑gen ADAS and autonomous vehicle software. You will lead cross‑functional teams, drive automated and manual tests, and ensure system reliability across development, production, and service environments.

You will mentor junior engineers, participate in vehicle and test bench validation, and collaborate with multiple agile teams to push end‑to‑end features from concept to delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience with software development, integration or testing.
  • Proficient in C/C++ with bash and Python scripting.
  • Experience with safety-critical embedded control systems in a HIL environment.
  • Ability to investigate issues from limited information with strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrates responsibility, delivery focus, and scheduling discipline.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to drive test vehicles for GM.

Job Description

At AV (Autonomous Vehicles) Software Organization within General Motors, we are working on developing cutting‑edge ADAS and AV features for next‑generation vehicles. As the ADAS/AV Platform Senior Integration and QA Engineer, you will play a crucial role in defining, implementing, and optimizing system testing to ensure the quality, safety, and reliability of the ADAS platform software.

Core Responsibilities
  • Deliver integrated hardware, software & calibration for Development, Production and Service by ensuring program execution to standard processes
  • Support software teams to develop and execute Key Behavior Tests (KBTs) and Milestone Tests (Global B controllers), both manually and automated.
  • Lead activities and guide other team members in completing tasks such as testing, automation, and issue resolution.
  • Verify control module functionality on bench and in vehicle (examples: perception systems, lateral & longitudinal control systems, mapping & localization systems etc.)
  • Develop test protocols and scripts for validating hardware and software integration
  • Support continuous development of new test features, processes, and methodologies
  • Work collaboratively with multiple agile teams to help deliver end‑to‑end products and features, seeing them through from conception to delivery
  • Mentor junior team members, providing coaching and guidance on challenging issues
  • Support Problem Resolution and Tracking Systems (PRTS) and Global Incident Management (GIMs).
  • Participate in development trips, assembly plant activities, prototype shops, garages, and fleet testing. (Less than 10%)
Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Software/Computer/Electrical/Embedded Systems/Electronics Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years’ experience with either software development, software integration and/or software testing
  • Prior software experience, preferably in C/C++ with exposure to bash, python and windows batch scripting
  • Knowledge and experience in safety critical embedded control system integration and testing in a HIL environment
  • Ability to independently investigate issues based on limited information, demonstrating high level of analytical ability to resolve complex problems
  • Creative, disciplined, strong sense of responsibility, delivery, and schedule commitment
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to drive test vehicles for GM
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Understanding of major automotive vehicle systems such as Advanced Driver‑Assistance (ADAS), Software Defined Vehicle(SDV),Motion Control, Automotive Network, and Powertrain
  • Experience with Linux or QNX OS/file system
  • Experience with test software such as CANoe, Vehicle Spy, INCA, AutoVAL
  • Knowledge of serial data communications (Ethernet (preferred), CAN, LIN)
  • Exposure to the Adaptive AUTOSAR service‑based vehicle platform
  • Exposure to CI/CD development methodologies
  • Experience with Unit Test tools e.g. (CppUTest, Google Test etc) and respective Jenkins plugins
  • Experience with Agile/SAFe methodologies

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits. This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review. The position is subject to export control restrictions and requires the successful candidate to be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee).
