Job summary

HDR is seeking a senior integrated water resources planner or engineer to join our Water Resources team in the United States. You will lead planning and feasibility studies for water supply, flood risk management, and coastal projects, coordinating with agencies and stakeholders to deliver compliant analyses.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in watershed-scale studies for federal work, excellent writing and communication skills, and a proactive, employee-owned mindset aligned with HDR's

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or closely related field is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of technical and/or field experience in complex environmental planning projects.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and strong writing skills are essential.
  • Experience with federal planning requirements and documentation review is preferred.
  • Active participant in an employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct medium- to large-size planning and environmental projects for the federal government.
  • Prepare, plan and analyze compliance documents and reports.
  • Direct work of others to complete studies and required documents.
  • Demonstrate extensive public participation and agency coordination experience.

As part of our Water Business Group, you’ll help shape how communities manage water for generations to come. From delivering safe drinking water and treating wastewater responsibly to developing sustainable water supplies and protecting lives and property through flood control, your work will directly support public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience.

Role Overview

HDR is looking for a senior integrated water resources planner or engineer to join our Water Resources team. Candidates should have leadership and technical experience on integrated planning related to water supply, flood risk management, coastal storm risk management, environmental restoration, inland and deep draft navigation infrastructure projects, and experience in watershed scale feasibility studies for the federal government.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and direct medium- to large-size planning and environmental compliance projects on behalf of the federal government.
  • Prepare, plan and analyze compliance documents.
  • Direct work of others in completion of required studies, documents and reports.
  • Demonstrate extensive public participation, agency coordination, planning and programming experience.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Additional Qualifications
  • Experience with federal plan formulation requirements.
