Job summary

Higgins, Cavanagh & Cooney LLP, a premier New England litigation firm, seeks an experienced Associate Attorney for our Providence, RI office. The successful candidate will handle all phases of civil litigation and work directly with clients, insurers, and seasoned litigators on complex matters.

Minimum 5 years of civil litigation experience with RI bar admission is required; insurance defense experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to the Rhode Island Bar (required).
• Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience.
• Insurance defense experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
• Strong oral advocacy and communication abilities.
• Proven case management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Massachusetts and/or Connecticut Bar admission is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conducting and defending depositions.
• Drafting and arguing motions.
• Performing legal research and analysis.
• Attending court conferences and hearings.
• Managing client communications and counseling.
• Participating in settlement negotiations and mediations.
• Preparing cases for trial and participating in trial proceedings.
