Dunwoody College of Technology invites applications for a Senior Instructor level in the School of Design. The incumbent will teach Architecture, Interior Architecture/Design, and Graphic/Experiential Design courses, with emphasis on foundational and advanced studios.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Architecture, Interior Architecture/Design, Graphic Design or related field, or equivalent combo.
• Bachelor's plus 18 graduate credits in relevant fields; or master's in the related areas.
• 3+ years of design/teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach design studios and courses at foundational and advanced levels.
• Develop and update curriculum, materials, and training aids.
• Collaborate with college and industry to support students and program health.
• Mentor colleagues, participate in committees, and recruiting of learners.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The School of Design at Dunwoody College seeks candidates in all areas of Architecture, Interior Architecture/Design, and Graphic/Experiential Design. Candidates with professional experience are highly encouraged to apply and must be capable of teaching at foundational and advanced-level design studios/courses. Candidates with expertise in industry software are encouraged to apply. The opening is targeted at the level of Senior Instructor, but experienced candidates with outstanding credentials may be considered for Assistant Professor. The instructor is responsible for excellence in teaching and contributing to the College's undergraduate educational mission. The faculty member is expected to contribute to and support the College and the School of Design and connect with industry contacts. They will be expected to work with the College and the School of Design to further key strategic goals and develop initiatives that support students outside the classroom. Primary Objective: This faculty position is responsible for initiating the teaching and learning process for students. As a student-centered institution, Dunwoody expects faculty to teach, develop, and maintain relationships with the industry. The faculty member teaches and plans with innovation and uses diverse teaching methods and multidisciplinary collaborations with academic departments and units across the College.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

Facilitates learning activities so that students learn the principles, theory, skills, and work ethic necessary to become proficient for entry-level positions. Creates a positive learning environment. Monitors, assesses and advises learners on technical and academic progress and performance. Uses current academic and industry practices in assigned courses of instruction. Develops and updates lesson material and training aids, and maintains equipment within the assigned course of instruction. Assists in the recruitment and placement of learners. Leads the process of maintaining equipment and recommends new equipment purchases within the assigned program. As a part of a team, designs and develops new curriculum within the assigned program. Provides support, coaching, and guidance to faculty members. Participates in industry and/or professional organizations in order to maintain and enhance program health and academic integrity. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
