Job summary

Exthymic is building an early-stage deep-tech startup focused on safe, scalable cell-therapy manufacturing software. We seek a senior software engineer who designs instrument software for regulated environments, turning evolving hardware requirements into reliable software that runs the instrument end-to-end.

You will shape architecture, develop control systems, integrate with hardware, and ensure data traceability, testing, and compliance while collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineers

Qualifications

• 7+ years developing software for instruments, medical devices, robotics, or lab automation.
• Strong modern C++, Rust, and/or Python across microcontrollers to host apps.
• Experience with closed-loop control and state-machine architectures.
• Safety-critical mindset: fault handling, safe-state design, and traceability.
• Ability to collaborate with electrical, mechanical, optical, and bioprocess engineers.

Responsibilities

• Shape the instrument software architecture from firmware to operator interface.
• Develop instrument control software for autonomous cell-therapy manufacturing.
• Integrate host software with instrument microcontrollers and sensors.
• Manage data pipelines from raw acquisition to final record.
• Establish SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and release processes.
• Document risk analyses and audit trails under regulated software lifecycle.
• Develop with evolving hardware requirements and changing processes.
