Job summary

United Launch Alliance (ULA) is seeking an Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineer 3 to design, develop, implement, and sustain mission-critical I&C for EGSE that supports Vulcan Centaur launches. You will modernize control systems, collaborate with ground systems, vehicle design, and operations teams to meet modularity, reliability, and performance goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer/Control Systems from an accredited college or university.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in instrumentation & control engineering in high‑reliability environments.
  • Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA and interfacing using common communication protocols.
  • Hands‑on experience selecting and integrating industrial instrumentation.
  • Experience implementing redundancy and resiliency strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and maintain I&C system architectures with redundancy and resiliency.
  • Integrate modern I&C into legacy ULA systems for future extensibility.
  • Specify and integrate field instrumentation and control devices.
  • Support PLC/DCS/SCADA based control solutions and create requirements and I/O definitions.
  • Produce interface control documents, wiring diagrams, and system architecture diagrams.
  • Participate in hazard analyses and reliability reviews for safe operation.
  • Assist commissioning, verification, and validation of new control systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex I&C issues in critical environments.
  • Ensure designs meet codes, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, safety, and operations teams.
  • Support change control and documentation processes for I&C systems.
