Job summary

Bowman is seeking an Engineer III, Instrumentation & Controls in Houston, TX to lead design, planning, and execution of large-scale I&C projects. You will guide technical directions, oversee equipment sizing, and ensure compliance with industry standards while collaborating with engineering, procurement, and construction teams.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in Engineering with 4–7 years of relevant experience and a PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 4–7 years of relevant experience.
• PE license preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of instrument and controls engineering principles and practices.
• Advanced proficiency in engineering software and tools for system design, simulation, and analysis.
• Ability to interpret and create technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• In-depth understanding of process control systems and automation technologies.
• Strong knowledge of industry codes, regulations, and best practices.
• Ability to develop and implement instrumentation and control engineering standards and guidelines.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and analytical skills – written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment sizing & selection, alternative analyses, and other tasks.
• Support the engineering, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of systems.
• Present engineering and design deliverables to project members, cross-functional teams, senior leadership, external vendors, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Plan, forecast, and actualize deliverable progress to support project reporting and schedule.
• Identify scope changes and estimate impact to effort and cost.
• Support proposal efforts by evaluating RFP scope, identifying deliverables, and estimating effort.
• Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.
• Prepares, reviews, and approves instrumentation equipment, conduit, and wiring calculations, requisitions, lists, studies, reports, BOMs, and designs.
• Develops Operating Controls Philosophy and Cause & Effect Diagrams, reviews HMI layout and Network Architecture Diagram.
