Job summary

Peraton is seeking a design-focused engineer to join a small multidisciplinary team. You will analyze and design electronics and embedded devices for prototypes and field-deployable systems, and generate professional design documentation.

Requirements include a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with substantial experience, experience with NI equipment and LabVIEW, and the ability to support design reviews and documentation packages.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 8+ years (BS), 6+ years (MS) or 3+ years (PhD) of relevant work.
• Experience with NI equipment (cRIO, cDAQ, PXI) and LabVIEW.
• Experience with analog/digital IO, signal conditioning and PLCs.
• Ability to read and edit schematics, ICDs and process diagrams.
• Strong documentation skills in MS Word/PowerPoint and design reviews.
• Onsite work five days a week; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test instrumentation and control systems for prototypes and production.
• Provide technical oversight and hands-on testing of electronics and software.
• Develop and review documentation packages (diagrams, schematics, drawings, test plans).
• Develop embedded computing and DSP designs and applications.
• Prepare design review materials for internal and external reviews.
• Review packages for manufacturability, testability and validation.

Responsibilities

Thesuccessfulcandidate will possess the ability to worksemi-independently in a small multi-disciplinary team utilizing their experience to analyzeanddesignelectronics and electrical systems. Additionally,developing embedded devices and modules to power, generate, and receive signals for prototypes andfield-deployable systems isa critical component of this job.Theability to read, comprehendand generate professionalqualitydesign documentation is a required capability for this position.

Job Purpose

This position will support the design, development, testing and operational phases ofprojects

undertaken at PERATON Labs, the research and development arm of PERATON corporation.This position requires the successful candidate to work closely witha diverse team of engineering,scientific and technical staff to develop novel solutions in support of such projects.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Design,develop, and test of experimental and productionInstrumentation & Controlsystems.

• Providingtechnicaloversight of staff when appropriate.

• ProvidingHands-on work to test electronics,software,diagnose failures and render repairs if needed.

• Developand reviewdocumentation packages includingprocess control diagrams,schematics,wiringdiagrams,drawings,andtest plans.

• Developing embeddedcomputingand digitalsignalprocessingdesigns andapplications.

• Providingexpertise in analyzing analog and digital circuitry with both known and unknown properties.

• Preparing design review material such as presentation, simulation, analysis and other keycommunicablecomponents for both internaland externaldesignreviews.

• Review design document packages formanufacturability,testability anddesign validation.

RequiredEducation andWorkExperience

The successful candidate has diversified knowledge of principles and practices in engineering.

Adegree in Electrical or Computer Engineeringis requiredwith the following experiencelevels:

• BSwith 8or more yearsof experience.

• MSwith 6or more years of experience.

• PhDwith 3or more years of experience.

(Experience must bewithrelevant work in a professional setting)

Required Skills/Attributes

• Experience with National Instruments equipment (cRio, cDAQ, PXI)

• Experience implementing and updating design with National Instruments Labview

• Working withAnalog andDigital IOdata acquisition and control signalsas well as signal conditioning techniques.

• Experience with implementing designs for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

• Experiencedingenerating and reading State Machine, Logic,Flow,and Interconnection Diagrams.

• Experience withreading and editing schematics, ICDs and process control diagrams.

• Skilledin electrical circuit testing and analysis including prototyping sub-systems.

• Familiarity with lab/benchhardware such as oscilloscopes, power supplies (AC and DC), and spectrum analyzers.

• Ability tocommunicate designs through presentations and be comfortable providing material for review.

• Experience withdesigning and troubleshootingcabling and interconnectivity.

• Proficient in writing technical documentation in MS word and PowerPoint.

• Ability to be onsite five days a weekwhen required.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
