Job summary

GATE Energy is seeking a Sr. Instrumentation Commissioning Technician to lead commissioning activities on facility instrumentation devices and systems. You will work under Supervisors and Discipline Leads to meet project deadlines and safety targets.

The role requires mentoring technician personnel, conducting calibrations and loop checks, and documenting commissioning activities while ensuring compliance with QHSSE standards. Travel within the US, offshore, and internationally is expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Energy commissioning required.
  • Technical qualification or technical institute background preferred.
  • Knowledge of Energy facilities and associated control and safety systems.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team under field supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out commissioning activities as directed by Supervisors and Discipline Leads.
  • Direct, mentor, and lead Technician personnel to undertake commissioning activities.
  • Conduct specification checks, calibrations, loop checks, and troubleshooting of discrete or system-based instrument devices.
  • Complete documentation (e.g., Inspection Test Records or System Commissioning Procedures) required to document completion of commissioning activities.
  • Inspect instrument systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, required repairs, and ensure compliance; generate punch-lists or non-conformance reports.
  • Generate Job Safety Analysis and other required documentation to adhere to project/client QHSSE requirements.
  • Read and interpret instrument drawings, P&IDs, datasheets and one-line drawings.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of the equipment is hazardous.
  • Test and maintain instruments, wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using test equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Adhere to standards and client requirements for Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (QHSSE).
  • Maintain current licenses, certifications or identification cards to meet governmental regulations and project/client requirements.
  • Follow and maintain GATE and client standards for Quality in accordance with Quality System requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Sr. Instrumentation Commissioning Technician is a project position responsible for executing commissioning activities on facility instrumentation devices and systems. Experience & Education

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Energy commissioning required
  • Technical qualification or technical institute background preferred
  • Working knowledge of appropriate regulatory requirements and restrictions
  • Knowledge of Energy facilities and associated control and safety systems
  • Proven ability to effectively and efficiently work as part of a team under direction from field supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and work well with others
  • Proven ability to promote client relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel within the US, offshore, and internationally

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, ramps, and access and utilize scaffolding
  • Ability to carry a tool bag (up to 50 lbs.), bend body downward and forward, kneel, climb & walk
  • Ability to pass a background check/drug screen, and a physical
  • Work extended shift hours, e.g., 12+ hours/day or as dictated by project requirements
