Job summary

Woodside Energy is recruiting an GOA Instrumentation & Automation Engineer based in Houston, TX. You will provide technical assurance for instrumentation, automation, control and safety systems across Shenzi facility and subsea interfaces, with ownership of hazardous-area equipment and interfaces.

The role requires offshore exposure and broad engineering collaboration with Operations, Maintenance and vendors.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Instrumentation, Controls, Electrical Engineering or related field.
10+ years in oil and gas or similar process industries.
Strong instrumentation, automation and controls capability with practical electrical experience.
Experience across design, construction, testing, commissioning, start-up, operations, maintenance, troubleshooting and reliability improvement.
Offshore facilities experience and Gulf of Mexico regulatory knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and assurance for instrumentation, automation, control, safety, fire and gas, and associated systems.
Provide technical ownership for hazardous-area equipment and installations, including equipment selection, certification, installation, inspection, maintenance interfaces, and issue resolution.
Troubleshoot instrumentation, PLC/DCS/HMI, safety systems, communications, metering, field devices, and electrical interfaces with Operations and Maintenance teams.
Apply electrical engineering to power supplies, UPS/DC systems, motor control, drives, grounding, and electrical distribution.
Provide support for production, allocation, and fiscal measurement systems and projects.
Serve as System Custodian for Safety Critical Systems and support lifecycle management.
Lead or participate in Root Cause Analyses, reliability improvements, abnormal operating conditions assessments, and Case to Operate activities.
Review and implement engineering changes per MOC requirements.
Participate in HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA/SIL and commissioning/start-up activities.
Guide contractors and vendors through design, procurement, testing, commissioning and handover.
Travel offshore as required for field verification, troubleshooting, commissioning, assurance.
