Job summary

NESC Staffing Corp. in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Instrument and Controls Designer to lead complex I&C design deliverables on projects. This on-site role requires deep expertise and hands-on leadership to coordinate with vendors, fabricators, and contractors.

You will produce layouts, wiring diagrams, and equipment arrangements, mentor junior designers, and manage scope, cost, and schedule to meet project requirements. Excellent communication and problem-solving are a must.

Qualifications

• Requires mastery of current design and drafting software and Instrument and Controls design concepts.
• Typically 10+ years of progressive Instrument and Controls design and lead experience.
• Broad experience using process-plant Instrument and Controls specifications in design.

Responsibilities

• Produce complex Instrument and Controls design deliverables.
• Create conceptual Instrument and Controls layouts, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, location plans, plot plans, and equipment arrangements.
• Assist engineer in creating the instrument index.
• Prepare Instrument and Controls bulk material take-offs; review and check deliverables before issue.
• Often serve as the Instrument and Controls Design Lead on projects.
• Coordinate work between RDS disciplines, vendors, fabricators, and contractors to meet project requirements.
• Control costs, schedule, quantity, and budget.
• Mentor and train other designers by providing instruction in areas of expertise.
