Senior Instrumentation & Electrical Designer
Based in Corpus Christi, TX. Full time, in office. Relocation not required, travel per project.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and complete drawings using practical design knowledge.
- Coordinate with other disciplines and assist the lead engineers to ensure effective quality product.
- Conduct field investigations when needed, produce field reports with detailed sketches.
- As project lead designer, coordinate design activities between the home office, workshare office, and client by providing leadership, technical guidance, timely feedback of design deliverables, coordinating site information, managing technical requests, and ensuring work is completed accurately, on schedule, and in accordance with project and client requirements.
- Keep up to date on new design processes, modeling, drafting techniques, and IMS standards.
- Develop and recommend improvements in design standards to lower costs and improve work quality and facilitate maintenance.
- Investigate and resolve unusual design and field engineering problems by devising new approaches or applying existing criteria in novel ways.
- Ensure that effective methods and design/engineering techniques are used.
- Resolve project issues and problems.
- Provide technical guidance to co‑workers.
- Contribute to a team environment by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.
- Ensure alignment between all disciplines that are involved with 3DCAD to prepare for model reviews and issue deliverables.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Technical college graduation plus 15 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in refinery, midstream, petrochemical or other heavy industries.
- In‑depth knowledge of computer applications for Instrumentation & Electrical engineering design.
- Workshare knowledge and experience coordinating with team members in a global engineering center.
- Proficient in the following software: AutoCAD, Intools (Smartplant), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Basic design and construction knowledge required.
- Familiar with PIP standards.
- Working knowledge of NEC, IEC, ISA & IEEE design complying with industry standards.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Bentley required.
- Experience with Navisworks and ability to generate 3D models is a plus.
Communication
- Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

- Experience with design and/or construction of plants is desirable.
- In‑depth knowledge of Instrumentation & Electrical standards, methods, and practices.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and coordination skills with the ability to effectively direct workshare teams, prioritize multiple assignments, and deliver quality work on schedule.
