We are working with our client to locate a Senior Instructional Designer to modernize and restructure their onboarding training programs for three key roles:
- Design Consultants (showroom-focused)
- Measure & Installers (field-based)
- Customer Experience Managers (customer support-focused)
Their existing training materials (originally created 10+ years ago) are comprehensive but outdated and not currently organized into clear learning pathways. The client is looking for a consultant to provide a blueprint for a blended onboarding program and guide the transition to evergreen, scalable content.Scope of Work & Deliverables:Phase 1 - By End of Q2:
- Organize existing content into job-specific and cross-functional learning pathways
- Recommend structure for a blended onboarding program that includes self-paced learning, virtual instructor-led training (vILT), and job shadowing
- Assess current LMS (Litmus) and provide improvement recommendations (including tracking/reporting functionality and potential LMS alternatives)
Phase 2 - By End of Q3:
- Update and refresh content as needed (remove pricing-specific questions to ensure evergreenusability)
- Align all training with four core knowledge areas:
- Products
- Systems (including a proprietary CRM)
- Processes
- Soft Skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct content analysis and develop clear, structured learning pathways for multiple roles
- Guide client on L&D best practices in adult learning, blended learning, and content delivery
- Update existing ILT, vILT, and eLearning materials, incorporating modern design and interactivity standards
- Make strategic recommendations on onboarding program design, job shadowing integration, and LMS optimization
- Provide a high-level training blueprint (T3) to align with business goals
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Senior Instructional Designer with proven expertise in Adult Learning Theory and onboardingprogram design
- Experience updating and enhancing ILT, vILT, and eLearning content
- Capable of working independently and providing strategic consulting to clients
- Strong communication skills and experience advising on LMS use and reporting
- Comfortable working with existing content and recommending best practices without requiring SME guidance
Additional Information:
- Estimated Training Volume: ~50-100 hours of cross-functional training, 3 days of vILT, and job shadowing components
- Timeline: 6-month completion window for self-paced onboarding
- AI Tools: Not required; AI policy TBD
- Interested candidates should be prepared to present a "good, better, best" proposal for scope and pricing
Start Date: Late April or early May 2025Duration: TBD by consultant, with potential for extension
