We seek a Senior Innovation Engineer to join Amazon Logistics (AMZL) and lead the implementation of new automation technologies across our North American Delivery Station Network.

As a member of the Worldwide Amazon Logistics Innovation Engineering team, you will define, test, validate, and implement robotics and automation systems throughout our delivery station network.

We need an entrepreneurial engineer who combines expertise in robotics with strong engineering, planning, and analytical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead end-to-end robotics and automation implementation projects
  2. Partner with Process Engineering teams
  3. Collaborate with Operations leaders
  4. Work closely with Facilities and Engineering teams
  5. Drive advanced robotics technology across Amazon's last mile network
  6. Partner with Product teams and Global Engineering to drive automation requirements in delivery stations
  7. Evaluate process paths for automation potential based on labor, cost, safety, and performance metrics
  8. Develop business cases for new automation solutions
  9. Create pilot programs and define success metrics for proof of concepts
  10. Design technical documentation including flow diagrams, layouts, and installation details
  11. Track and analyze lessons learned to improve future automation systems
  12. Lead integration planning for material handling equipment automation
  13. Work with simulation teams to validate new automation concepts
  14. Champion AMZL in cross-functional teams developing future technologies (robotics, IoT, automation)
  15. Develop service and maintenance procedures for field teams
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
  2. BS in Mechanical Engineering
  3. SolidWorks or similar CAD experience and understanding of best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, complex configuration management
  4. Hands on experience crafting proof-of-concept models and prototypes
  5. Thorough understanding and use of principals, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering and ability to apply them to product design
  6. Organizational skills and the ability to work well with teams
  7. Experience communicating concepts and writing technical documents
  8. Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment
  9. Experience with full lifecycle and proficiency at completing tasks to meet associated milestones
  10. Experience evaluating design, performance and logistical tradeoffs for hardware systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  2. Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
  3. Experience with the project management of technical projects
  4. Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment
  5. Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management PLM software and ECO’s
  6. MS in Mechanical Engineering
  7. Proficiency with SolidWorks Simulation or Ansys Finite Element Analysis tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
