Job summary

ConMet, an Amsted Industries company, seeks a Process Engineer to support Operations, Quality, Design Engineering and Maintenance, driving continuous process improvement using lean principles to boost efficiency, quality and profitability.

Requirements include a BS in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, 10+ years of manufacturing experience, and certifications in Systematic Molding and Master Molder levels. The employer notes visa sponsorship is not offered for this US-based role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent injection molding processing experience.
• Minimum 10 years of related manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of thermoplastic morphologies and their properties.
• Understanding of polymer chain degradation and its causes and effects.
• Fundamentals of Systematic Molding certification.
• Master Molder 1 certification.
• Master Molder 2 certification.

Responsibilities

• Support processing and set up teams to improve daily efficiency and continuous improvement efforts.
• Participate in product launches to ensure a smooth transition from launch to production.
• Contribute to PFMEA activities for new product launches.
• Implement process improvements, affecting scrap, labor, and downtime.
• Lead continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools such as 6S, SMED, and error-proofing.
• Identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions for process-related customer rejections to prevent recurrence.
• Communicate with suppliers and customers regarding processing materials and equipment.
• Lead investigation teams focused on scrap reduction, process improvement, and cycle time reduction.
• Establish and maintain robust production processes for each mold.
• Establish and maintain optimal machine settings for each mold.
• Establish and maintain process standards for raw material dryers.
• Provide technical support and training to the processing and molding departments.
• Provide problem‑solving and engineering support to Tool Room, Maintenance, and Molding.
