Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Sr. Equipment Engineer, Injection Molding, to own equipment improvements for the Starlink program. You will guide repairs, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance of production molding systems, driving uptime and efficiency.

You will lead technicians, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate with reliability, tool, and automation teams to implement robust machine upgrades in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/manufacturing/materials engineering or an engineering field.
• At least 5 years of experience with mechanical design of complex components and assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate ownership of projects from concept through fabrication and production bring-up for plastic injection molding.
• Lead technicians to troubleshoot injection molding machines and peripheral equipment failures.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment and process gaps.
• Develop and execute complex improvement projects to maximize equipment availability and OEE.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, automation, fluid, pneumatic, and control system failures.
• Coordinate internal and third‑party resources for repairs and equipment upgrades.
• Interface with reliability, tool, and automation teams to design machine upgrades.
• Create and update maintenance instructions to eliminate recurring failures.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, production, and procurement to unblock production.
