Job summary

Lightning AI, the company behind PyTorch Lightning, seeks a Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer to join the Infrastructure Engineering team. You will build software and automation for large-scale GPU and bare-metal infrastructure used for AI/ML training and inference, collaborating with multiple teams across the organization.

The role offers a hybrid/remote setup in the U.S. with possible office hubs (NYC, SF, Seattle, or London). No visa sponsorship is available at this time.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software or infrastructure engineering experience.
• Strong Python and Linux production backend experience.
• Experience building APIs, tooling, or automation at scale.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration concepts.
• Understanding of HPC and bare-metal infrastructure fundamentals.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and make pragmatic design decisions.
• Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment with ownership and autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production services, APIs, tooling, and automation for large-scale infrastructure.
• Develop systems for provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and lifecycle management of infrastructure.
• Create automation to reduce manual work and improve reliability and scalability.
• Build interfaces for engineers and systems to interact with physical infrastructure.
• Lead provisioning, validation, and lifecycle management of servers and hardware.
