Job summary

Google in Sunnyvale is seeking a software engineer to build a node management agent for Google Cloud. You will work with the Linux kernel, hardware platforms, and cluster management to deliver reliable, scalable infrastructure.

Required are a bachelor's degree or equivalent, 2 years of software development (or 1 year with an advanced degree), and experience with large-scale distributed systems, plus C/C++ and Linux kernel exposure. Master’s/PhD is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of software development experience or 1 year of advanced degree in industry.
• 2 years of experience with large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or related compute/storage hardware.
• Experience in low-level systems programming languages (C/C++).
• Experience working on the Linux Kernel.

Responsibilities

• Participate in or lead design reviews to decide among technologies.
• Review code and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
• Triage issues and debug/resolve impacts on hardware, network, or services.
• Design, implement, and analyze low-level computer systems and their interactions with the Linux kernel.
• Collaborate with partner teams including cluster management, ML, hardware, SRE, and Google Cloud.
