Job summary

The Seattle Art Museum is seeking a Senior Systems & Networking Administrator to lead infrastructure across SAM Downtown, Volunteer Park, and Olympic Sculpture Park. You will design, deploy, secure, and maintain servers, network, backups, and server rooms, with ~60 VMs on a Hyper‑V cluster and both Windows and Linux systems.

You will mentor a Junior Systems & Networking Administrator, own documentation and runbooks, and manage critical applications like Tessitura.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive systems and network administration experience.
• Experience with server virtualization (Hyper‑V, VMware) in production.
• Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and enterprise networking.
• Experience with Microsoft 365/Entra ID administration and hybrid identity.
• Ability to read existing systems quickly and take safe ownership.
• Mentoring or developing junior technical staff; strong documentation skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and project management capabilities.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Administer on-premise servers (Windows/Linux) supporting critical museum apps.
• Maintain ~60 virtual guests on a six-node Hyper‑V cluster; perform upgrades and capacity planning.
• Manage server-side infra for Tessitura and the Tessitura RAMP cloud migration.
• Plan server refreshes, capacity projects, and UPS replacements.
• Maintain Active Directory and Entra ID in coordination with technology leadership.
• Own backup and recovery stack, verify restores on a schedule.
• Design, configure, and maintain museum network across three sites (firewalls, VPN, switching, wireless).
• Lead network projects, monitor security tooling, and enforce least-privilege access.
• Document runbooks, diagrams, and SOPs; build cross-training to avoid single points of failure.
• Serve as senior escalation for help desk and junior staff; mentor and develop the team.
