The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure Engineering team. You will be a hands‑on technical expert, helping to design, build and run the corporate IT infrastructure that keeps the group companies productive and secure. You will work on complex, high‑impact projects, act as an escalation point for the team, and help raise engineering standards through mentoring and example.

Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy and maintain corporate infrastructure, including servers, storage, domain services, cloud services and enterprise applications.
  • Act as a senior technical authority for the team, providing guidance, design reviews and mentorship to more junior engineers.
  • Contribute to the team’s technology strategy and roadmap, helping to shape priorities and technical direction.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies that improve reliability, security and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and deliver infrastructure projects from design to handover, on time, within scope and to a high standard.
  • Own the resolution of complex incidents and problems, leading root cause analysis and driving lasting fixes.
  • Build and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities for critical systems, including regular testing.
  • Drive automation and infrastructure‑as‑code to reduce manual effort, improve consistency and make the estate easier to run.
  • Build security into designs and solutions from the outset, working with our security teams to meet policy and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to understand requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, standards and runbooks.
  • Take part in the team’s on‑call and out‑of‑hours support arrangements where required.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in an infrastructure engineering role, with a strong understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure components (e.g. networking, virtualization, storage, cloud computing, domain services).
  • Strong proficiency in both Microsoft and Linux operating systems.
  • Substantial hands‑on experience designing, operating and troubleshooting large VMware estates or alternate virtualization platforms.
  • Experience with automation and DevOps tooling (e.g. Ansible, Python, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines), with a track record of automating real operational work.
  • Sound knowledge of IT security principles and practices, and the ability to build security into designs and solutions.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a results‑oriented mindset, with the ability to diagnose complex issues under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering projects, with working knowledge of Agile or other delivery methodologies.
  • A collaborative approach, and a willingness to mentor and develop others.
