Job summary

Axion is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to shape and scale cloud infrastructure. You will design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, ensure reliability and security, and support rapid development cycles.

This role requires strong ownership and a bias toward action, operating in EST or CST time zones. You will collaborate with engineering leadership to drive infrastructure decisions and enable product teams to ship faster with confidence.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering.
• Deep hands-on experience with GCP services.
• Strong Kubernetes expertise and Terraform experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Axion's cloud infra on GCP with emphasis on high availability and security.
• Own and evolve Kubernetes-based orchestration and Terraform IaC practices.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling for rapid delivery.
• Establish observability across the stack with logging, metrics, alerts, and tracing; lead incident response.
• Define and track SLOs/SLIs to drive reliability and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to security hardening, compliance posture, and cloud cost optimization.

About the Role:

We're seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in shaping and scaling our cloud infrastructure. You'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automating deployment workflows, ensuring system reliability and security, and supporting rapid development cycles. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment and is excited to build foundational DevOps systems from the ground up. You'll work closely with engineering leadership to drive infrastructure decisions and enable product teams to ship faster with confidence. This person should reside in EST or CST locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Axion's cloud infrastructure on GCP, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security
• Own and evolve our Kubernetes-based container orchestration platform and Terraform infrastructure-as-code practices
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, and deployment automation to help engineering teams ship with speed and confidence
• Establish and maintain observability across our stack - logging, metrics, alerting, and tracing - and lead incident response efforts
• Define and track SLOs and SLIs, driving a culture of reliability and continuous improvement
• Contribute to security hardening, compliance posture, and cost optimization across our cloud environment

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering
• Deep hands-on experience with GCP (Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, or similar services)
• Strong proficiency with Kubernetes — cluster management, networking, scaling, and troubleshooting
• Solid Terraform experience — writing modular, reusable, production-grade infrastructure-as-code
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling
• Strong background in observability tooling (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent)
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a bias toward action
• Experience at a venture-backed startup preferred
• Must be based in the Eastern or Central time zones

Nice to Haves:

• Experience using agents to accelerate delivery
• Experience managing infrastructure for FedRAMP environments
