Job summary

Ampcus Inc. is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support a hybrid environment in Richmond, VA.

You will administer Windows Server fleets, manage cloud integration, and lead migrations and security improvements to ensure uptime of mission‑critical systems. The role requires hands‑on experience with patch management, automation, and production application support across Java, .NET, Oracle, SQL Server, and Dynamics.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience administering Windows Server environments.
  • Experience supporting hybrid on‑premises and cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
  • Experience performing server migrations and cloud implementations.
  • Hands‑on experience with SCCM or similar enterprise patch management tools.
  • Experience implementing server security, hardening, and remediation.
  • Knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Experience supporting enterprise production applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows infrastructure and middleware.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, including the OSI model and network protocols.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire for Microsoft/Networking certifications is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
  • Perform operating system upgrades, patch installation, testing, and routine system maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation solutions for repetitive administrative tasks.
  • Lead server migration projects, including migrating workloads from on-premises environments to cloud platforms.
  • Implement server hardening, endpoint protection, access controls, and security best practices.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation for servers and enterprise applications.
  • Support infrastructure security monitoring and compliance initiatives.
  • Manage enterprise patching using SCCM or similar patch management platforms.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, performance, and availability.
  • Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.

Job Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance a hybrid infrastructure environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in Windows Server administration, cloud platforms, security, automation, patch management, and production application support. This role requires hands‑on experience performing infrastructure upgrades, migrations, remediation, and troubleshooting for mission‑critical systems.

The engineer will support enterprise applications built on Java, .NET, Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft Dynamics, and warehouse platforms while providing advanced server-level administration and infrastructure support. Strong networking knowledge, including the OSI model and network protocols, is essential.

Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Operations & Administration
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
  • Perform operating system upgrades, patch installation, testing, and routine system maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation solutions for repetitive administrative tasks.
  • Lead server migration projects, including migrating workloads from on-premises environments to cloud platforms.
Security & Compliance
  • Implement server hardening, endpoint protection, access controls, and security best practices.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation for servers and enterprise applications.
  • Support infrastructure security monitoring and compliance initiatives.
Patching, Monitoring & Automation
  • Manage enterprise patching using SCCM or similar patch management platforms.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, performance, and availability.
  • Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
  • Manage backup operations for mission-critical systems.
  • Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and recovery procedures.
  • Ensure data protection and business continuity.
Production Application Support
  • Provide server-level support for enterprise applications built on:
    • Java
    • .NET
    • Oracle
    • SQL Server
    • Microsoft Dynamics
    • Warehouse management platforms
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues across infrastructure and middleware environments.
Networking & Systems Integration
  • Utilize strong knowledge of the OSI model and networking protocols to diagnose connectivity and application issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application deployments and infrastructure enhancements.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Work closely with infrastructure teams and project stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.

  • Strong networking knowledge - including understanding OSI layer functionality and network protocols. Required 6 Years
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to address infrastructure needs and support application deployment. Required 6 Years
  • Have achieved Microsoft-focus certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, etc Desired
  • Has achieved network focused certifications such as Network+, CCNA, etc Desired
