Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Mission: At Groq, we’re building a custom cloud from the ground up — one data center at a time. Our Infrastructure Platform team manages systems that transform racks of bare metal into production-ready Kubernetes clusters for next-generation AI workloads.

We’re seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to help scale this effort. This hands-on role involves provisioning, automation, and collaboration with data center and networking teams to bring new sites online. If you’re passionate about infrastructure, enjoy debugging hardware and low-level systems, and want to expand your skills in Linux, Kubernetes, and distributed systems — we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities & Opportunities:

• Support provisioning and deployment of Kubernetes clusters on bare metal servers.
• Build and maintain tooling for bare metal provisioning, including DHCP, DNS, PXE/iPXE/HTTPBoot, and Talos Linux Machine Configuration.
• Automate deployment workflows with scripts in Go, Python, Bash.
• Collaborate with data center operations and networking teams to ensure hardware is properly configured and connected.
• Manage infrastructure configuration using Git, Flux, Terraform.
• Contribute to documentation and tooling to ensure reliable and repeatable infrastructure.

Ideal Candidates Have:

• Experience with Linux/Kubernetes and terminal-based work.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Flux.
• Basic scripting skills in Go, Python, or Bash.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (IPAM, VLANs, DHCP, DNS).
• Knowledge of storage concepts (block/object storage, NFS, RAID).
• Strong ownership mindset and willingness to troubleshoot hardware and low-level provisioning issues.

Nice to Have:

• Experience provisioning physical data center hardware.
• Exposure to Talos Linux, Kubernetes bootstrapping, or platform engineering.
• Collaboration with facilities, hardware, or network teams in operational roles.

Compensation: Competitive base salary, equity, and benefits. Salary range: $132,100 to $279,800, based on skills and experience.
