Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to lead the enterprise infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and performance across the technology environment. You will serve as a senior technical resource and mentor junior staff while guiding complex initiatives.

You will collaborate with the Lead Infrastructure Engineer to develop standards, plan changes, and support disaster recovery and security compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum eight years of progressively responsible infrastructure administration experience.
• Demonstrated experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments.
• Experience supporting hybrid identity and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience administering networking, virtualization, and endpoint management technologies.
• Experience leading complex infrastructure implementations.
• Experience developing technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
• Experience mentoring technical staff and leading technical project implementations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary technical escalation point for complex infrastructure, systems, networking, identity management, and cloud-related issues.
• Lead technical response and restoration efforts during significant infrastructure incidents and service disruptions.
• Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise server, virtualization, storage, network, identity, cloud, and endpoint management platforms.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement production infrastructure changes while ensuring minimal operational disruption.
• Contribute to the technical implementation of infrastructure-related projects from planning through production deployment.
• Mentor Systems Administrators by providing technical guidance, knowledge transfer, and collaborative troubleshooting.
• Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, availability, and performance while recommending improvements to increase reliability and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity personnel to implement security controls, respond to security incidents, and maintain compliance with organizational security standards.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, business continuity testing, and system recovery efforts.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and provide technical recommendations supporting future infrastructure planning and modernization efforts.
• Participate in the infrastructure team’s 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Support the hospital's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This is a Remote position.

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer serves as a senior technical resource for the Infrastructure Services team, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the organization's enterprise technology environment. This position provides advanced technical leadership, serves as a primary operational escalation point for complex infrastructure issues, and functions as the principal technical partner to the Lead Infrastructure Engineer.

Working collaboratively with the Lead Infrastructure Engineer, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer provides technical leadership for day-to-day infrastructure operations, mentors Systems Administrators, leads complex technical initiatives, and contributes to the development of infrastructure standards, architecture, and long-term technology strategies. This role extends the organization's senior technical capacity while reducing operational dependence on a single technical resource.

Experience

Required:

Preferred:

• Healthcare information technology experience.
• Experience with Microsoft cloud technologies, including Entra ID, Intune, Defender, and MS 365.
• Experience with enterprise virtualization platforms and disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience with PowerShell or other scripting and automation technologies.
• Experience with cybersecurity, identity & access management, and regulatory compliance initiatives.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional walking, standing, bending, or lifting light office items (up to 25 pounds). May be required to move throughout the healthcare facility, including administrative and clinical areas.

Working Conditions:

This position operates in a professional office setting within a healthcare facility. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The office environment is climate-controlled, well-lit, and ergonomically designed for extended computer work. While this role is primarily office-based and does not involve direct patient care, the employee may occasionally be present in clinical areas or interact with staff working in clinical environments. As such, there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases. The organization provides appropriate training and personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed to ensure safety.
