Job summary

Sterling Search Partners is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to own complex IT initiatives from planning through implementation and closeout. This role requires Alabama residency and in-office presence for meetings.

You will independently own scope, budgets, schedules, resources, risks, dependencies, and overall delivery for assigned IT projects, with emphasis on developing budgets and schedules rather than merely executing SOWs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead complex IT projects from concept through closeout.
• Develop charters, objectives, scope, deliverables, timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
• Create and maintain detailed project schedules and budgets.
• Establish milestones, dependencies, critical paths, and deliverables.
• Partner with IT leadership and business stakeholders to define requirements.
• Manage cross-functional teams including IT, business, vendors and contractors.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager with approximately 8+ years of project management experience, including significant experience managing complex IT initiatives from planning through implementation and closeout. This individual must be able to step into an active environment, quickly understand priorities, establish project structure, and begin making an immediate impact. The successful candidate will independently own the scope, budget, schedule, resources, risks, dependencies, and overall delivery of assigned IT projects. This is a client-side/internal IT project management role. We are specifically looking for someone who has experience developing project budgets and schedules rather than simply managing against a predetermined Statement of Work (SOW), budget, and timeline.

******Candidates must live in Alabama and be willing to go into office for meetings

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex IT projects from concept and initiation through implementation and project closeout
• Develop project charters, objectives, scope, deliverables, timelines, budgets, and resource plans

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional project management experience
• Significant experience managing IT projects in an internal/client-side environment
• Demonstrated experience independently developing project budgets and schedules
• Proven ability to manage projects with multiple stakeholders, dependencies, and competing priorities
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including traditional, Agile, or hybrid approaches
• Experience managing project risks, issues, scope, resources, vendors, and budgets
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong executive presence and ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership
• Ability to quickly assess a project, identify gaps, establish priorities, and create an actionable plan
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, Monday.com, or similar platforms
