Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Principal Information Security Consultant in the United States to serve as the senior technical authority for secure architecture across Covered California and CalHEERS environments.

You will translate NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5 controls into concrete configurations, lead security engineering, and ensure automated, defensible security across cloud and on‑premises systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of cybersecurity/IT experience with a related degree.
• Active CISSP certification.
• Experience translating NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5 controls into engineering solutions.
• Hands-on security architecture and engineering across cloud and on‑premises.
• Experience with vulnerability management tooling and hardening standards.
• Ability to communicate complex cybersecurity risk to technical and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own secure architecture across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Translate controls into concrete configurations, hardening standards and automated controls.
• Provide senior technical leadership for IAM, network, endpoint, cloud and application security.
• Lead vulnerability management strategy, risk prioritization and remediation validation.
• Assess control gaps, develop remediation plans, and support security authorization activities.
• Provide mentoring and technical QA for security assessments, policies and artifacts.
• Support incident response, threat detection, data protection and on-call rotation.
