Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years experience with BS/BA; Minimum 10 years with MS/MA. Degree in computer science, engineering, or cybersecurity. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Progressively responsible cybersecurity experience in enterprise security controls and regulated environments.
• Active CISSP certification.
• Experience interpreting NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5 controls in a complex enterprise environment and translating requirements into engineering solutions.
• Hands-on security architecture and engineering across cloud and on-premises, including IAM, network, endpoint, and application security.
• Experience with vulnerability management tooling (Tenable or Qualys) and with CIS Benchmarks or DISA STIGs.
• Ability to communicate cybersecurity risk to technical and executive audiences; strong technical writing.
• US Citizenship and ability to pass California background clearance before starting work.

Responsibilities

• Own secure architecture; design and review security architectures, patterns, and configurations across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Translate controls into engineering; apply NIST 800-53 Rev. 5 and IRS Publication 1075 safeguards as concrete configurations.
• Lead security engineering across domains: IAM, network, endpoint, cloud, and application security, including CSP tooling.
• Direct vulnerability management: scanning strategy, risk-based prioritization, and remediation validation.
• Evaluate and close control gaps; develop remediation strategies and support CMS Authority to Connect readiness.
• Provide senior technical QA and mentorship; review assessments and artifacts for technical accuracy; mentor security professionals.
• Advise on incident response and detection; support investigations, evidence handling, and post-incident analysis.
