Job summary

Progress Rail in East Chicago, IN is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform general industrial maintenance and preventative maintenance on equipment and systems as required by PRS and local management. The role requires at least 1 year of mechanical and/or electrical technician experience in a production setting, ability to read blueprints and use multimeters, and proficiency with hand and power tools.

Associates degree or trade certificate preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or trade certificate in a technical field preferred.
• Minimum 12 months experience as a mechanical and/or electrical technician in a production environment.
• Ability to read precision instruments, gauges, and electrical multimeters.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, procedures, and work instructions.
• Capable use of hand and power tools including pneumatic tools.
• Knowledge of overhead cranes and welding/machine repair is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and systems as required by PRS and local management.
• Repair and maintain mobile equipment including forklifts, man lifts, trucks, etc.
• Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs on shop equipment.
• Complete high voltage and 3 phase electrical repairs and startups.
• Overhead crane repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Building and facility repairs as needed.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for maintenance when required.
• Keep maintenance area clean and tools in good condition.
