Job summary

Terracon in Rocky Hill, CT is seeking a Senior Industrial Hygienist to lead complex risk-based investigations, develop sampling strategies, and provide expert IH guidance on a wide range of projects.

You will supervise field activities, prepare risk assessment reports, mentor junior staff, ensure safety compliance, and communicate findings to clients, regulators, and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or related field.
• 8–11 years of industrial hygiene experience.
• CIH certification required.
• Ability to obtain Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer status.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.

Perform field studies including airborne chemical monitoring, noise monitoring, indoor air quality, asbestos surveys and Phase I preliminary site assessments. Develop sampling strategies and outline required analysis. Research regulatory standards and hazard data. Evaluate sampling results. Prepare risk assessment reports and develop recommendations to correct and improve the environment. Present and communicate findings and report recommendations to clients.

• Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company.


• Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.


• Responsible for continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor and promote quality standards and practices.


• Responsible for providing consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.


• Senior level industrial hygiene professional responsible for leading complex projects requiring innovative investigation techniques.


• Supervise the analysis and formation of recommendations in written reports.


• Assist in establishing and updating current policies/ procedures for technical projects in field of expertise, to ensure proper interpretation and implementation by subordinate staff.


• Provide technical direction and training to less experience professional staff.


• Participate in the development of marketing strategies and presentations of qualifications to clients on projects.


• Serves as a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or related science field.


• Minimum 8-11 years’ experience.


• Master’s degree or PhD preferred.


• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.


• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)


• Ability to become a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer status - a designation in Terracon that authorizes someone with the responsibility to commit resources and mitigate risk on projects on behalf of the company.

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)


• Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)


• EPA Certified Lead-Based Paint Inspector and Risk Assessor
