Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Industrial Controls Engineer to join the Manufacturing Automation and Controls team. You will design, program, test, and optimize PLCs, robotics, vision systems, and data interfaces across our manufacturing footprint.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop automation solutions, and support IIoT and smart manufacturing initiatives while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related STEM field with 2+ years of experience, or Master's with 1+ year.
Experience with programming PLCs per IEC 61131-3 (ladder logic, FBD, structured text).
Experience with machine vision systems and barcode readers (Cognex/Keyence).

Responsibilities

Lead troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on PLCs, material handling equipment, and robotics.
Troubleshoot & edit Siemens Step 7 PLCs, OMRON, Beckhoff, and Allen Bradley controllers.
Implement modernizations and modifications to electrical drawings and panel layouts.
Perform in-house testing on control components and systems.
Provide status reports to project engineers and management.
