Job summary

Sinch in Chicago seeks a Senior Incident Response Engineer to lead the most complex security incidents, perform advanced forensic analysis, and guide containment and recovery. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance incident response capabilities and strengthen security posture.

You will mentor junior engineers, work with SOC, IT, Legal, and Compliance, and contribute to playbooks and threat-hunting techniques to stay ahead of evolving threats.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of cybersecurity experience focused on incident response, threat hunting, and forensics.
• Experience leading responses to large-scale or complex security incidents.
• Deep knowledge of security technologies including SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS and forensic tools.
• Hands-on with advanced forensic analysis, malware reverse engineering and threat hunting.
• Proficiency with scripting/automation (Python or PowerShell).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities under pressure.
• Excellent communication to translate technical findings to diverse audiences.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams during high-pressure incidents.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in CS/InfoSec.
• Advanced security certifications such as CISSP, GCIH, GREM.

Responsibilities

• Lead response to high-severity security incidents across teams and partners.
• Perform advanced forensic analysis, reverse engineer malware, conduct deep dives to root causes.
• Develop containment, eradication, and recovery strategies to minimize impact.
• Engage in proactive threat hunting to identify and mitigate threats.
• Collaborate with SOC, IT, Legal, and Compliance to coordinate incident management.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead incident response exercises and simulations.
• Document activities, produce executive-facing reports, and refine playbooks.
