Job summary

Veeco Instruments Inc. is seeking a Senior Quality Technician - In-Process Inspection to perform inspections and quality checks during manufacturing, ensuring products meet specifications and customer requirements.

The role interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to identify nonconformances, prevent defects, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Strong attention to detail and experience with ISO/IATF/AS9100 are preferred.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
• Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC).
• Experience using standard measurement and inspection tools.
• Proficiency with Excel, ERP/MES, and quality systems.
• Ownership mindset with urgency to complete tasks in fast-paced manufacturing.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Experience in regulated or high-precision manufacturing environments preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO, IATF, AS9100, or similar quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process inspections of parts, assemblies, and materials at defined manufacturing stages.
• Verify conformance to drawings, specifications, control plans, and work instructions.
• Record inspection results in reports or SPC charts and communicate issues to teams.
• Identify nonconforming material and support containment actions.
• Assist with root cause investigations and CAPA.
• Support first article inspections (FAI) and setup approvals.
• Maintain calibration status of inspection equipment.
• Follow quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
