You will lead end-to-end projects, train customers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maximize OpenGov value and ROI across payroll, HRIS, and related workflows.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of ERP implementation consulting experience.
- Advanced data analysis and reporting of large financial datasets.
- Experience training customers on software solutions.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Strong communication and leadership to mentor teams.

The Senior Implementation Consultant, Payroll will drive value to the OpenGov customer and deliver a complete, quick and smooth implementation by utilizing advanced product knowledge, strong technical expertise, and the ability to develop creative solutions that align with customer objectives. This role will be responsible for driving a successful customer implementation from start to finish, setting the underlying foundation of their OpenGov platform, while promoting maximum value for their investment in OpenGov. This position requires advanced product knowledge in Payroll, HRIS, Workforce Management, or related solutions.
- Lead and manage complex, end-to-end implementation projects for new and expanding customers, including data requirements gathering, technical platform configuration, administrator training, and other implementation needs.
- Serve as the primary technical and strategic advisor to customers, ensuring effective communication, smooth deployment, and empowering government officials and staff to become informed advocates for OpenGov solutions.
- Analyze and address customer requirements and pain points, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop tailored solutions that simplify, enhance, and automate workflows.
- Develop deep expertise in governmental processes across multiple states to better meet diverse customer needs and provide innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with the engagement and adoption teams to deliver a consistent and exceptional customer experience, including training programs for new customers.
- Establish and refine best practices for data environments and customer verticals to enhance implementation efficiency and scalability.
- Gather, document, and communicate customer feedback and feature requests, contributing to product discussions and ensuring OpenGov is a “must-have solution.”
- Work closely with internal departments, such as Research and Development and Sales, to drive delivery efficiencies and inform product roadmaps.
- Mentor and provide training to team members, fostering professional growth and sharing best practices.
- Take ownership of strategic initiatives, providing guidance on complex matters and contributing to the delivery of tactical business targets.
- 5+ years of software implementation consulting experience with demonstrated expertise in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform implementations.
- Advanced knowledge of analyzing and reporting large volumes of financial data with strong understanding of data architecture and business process workflows.
- Proficiency in training customers on software solutions to address key workflows and business processes.
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., functions/formulas, v-lookup, pivot tables, error-checking, report formatting).
- Strong skills in conceptualization, modeling, and design to develop efficient solutions.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with customers and internal teams.
- Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate variable factors and develop creative, effective solutions.
- 3+ years of professional experience in Payroll, HRIS, Workforce Management, or related fields.
- Familiarity with SaaS solutions, APIs, or Cloud technologies.
- Knowledge of Agile & Scrum methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changes in product features and strategically address evolving customer needs.
- Ability to effectively network and influence stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
Chicago, IL: $120,000 - $130,000
On target ranges above include base plus a portion of variable compensation that is earned based on company and individual performance.
The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate's geographical location.
