Job summary

National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) seeks four Senior Attorneys to provide legal orientation and direct representation for immigrant children and families in Chicago.

Onsite at schools, the attorneys will conduct KYR presentations, screen clients, and maintain caseloads for EOIR and DHS matters, including detentions as needed. Strong Spanish skills and a background in immigration law are essential.

Qualifications

• JD degree and US law license required.
• Minimum of three years practicing immigration law.
• Experience with children, families, or vulnerable populations preferred.
• Spanish language proficiency required (spoken and written).
• Experience with schools or youth in Chicago preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite intake, education, and legal consultations in Spanish and English.
• Maintain relationships with students, school staff, and community partners.
• Refer clients to housing, health, and social services as needed.
• Prepare cases for EOIR interviews and DHS proceedings.
• Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with program deliverables.
