Job summary

Quantum Space is seeking an Image Processing Engineer III to transition prototype algorithms into operational software for high-mobility spacecraft platforms. You will design mathematical models for tracking and navigation under challenging lighting and environmental conditions, moving from concept to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field; advanced degree may substitute.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in CV/image processing/estimation algorithms.
• Strong foundation in linear algebra, probability, statistics, and numerical optimization.
• Experience developing software in C++ and/or Python for algorithms and simulations.
• Experience working with real-world sensor data or simulated environments.
• Familiarity with camera systems, optical sensors, and effects of lighting on algorithm performance.
• Experience with software development best practices and version control.

Responsibilities

• Algorithm Development & Engineering: mature prototypes into production-ready software.
• Multi-Feature & Target Tracking: design robust estimation logic for tracking multiple features.
• Statistical Error & Uncertainty Analysis: model data confidence and covariance metrics.
• Data Filtering & Optimization: outlier rejection, noise filtering, and subpixel refinement.
• Trade Studies & Benchmarking: validate and compare alternative algorithms.
• Hardware-Software Integration: analyze impact of sensor/optical hardware on performance.
• Interface & API Design: define interfaces and data contracts for integration.
