Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with identity or security-critical systems.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education.
• Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, FIDO2/WebAuthn.
• Experience shipping large-scale distributed systems and leading technical strategy.
• Hands-on backend experience in Python/Java/Go and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for Venmo's identity platform.
• Collaborate with platform and security teams to align on identity standards.
• Lead architectural reviews and define engineering standards.
• Mentor and develop senior engineers.
• Translate regulatory requirements (KYC, AML, GDPR, PCI) into solutions.
• Own performance and availability and participate in on-call.
• Work with Product, Legal, Compliance, and Security to balance risk and developer experience.
