Position Overview

This prestigious financial institution is seeking a Senior IBM MQ Middleware Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end administration, maintenance, and support of critical IBM MQ messaging infrastructure, ensuring reliability, availability, performance, and security. The role involves supporting business applications and participating in strategic initiatives like cloud migration, containerization, and system modernization.

Responsibilities

1. Install, configure, and maintain IBM MQ software on RHEL, including version upgrades, patches, and security updates.
2. Configure MQ objects such as Queue Managers, Queues, Channels, Clusters, and Topics.
3. Monitor system performance, message throughput, and latency; optimize configurations accordingly.
4. Troubleshoot MQ issues, including connectivity, message delivery, and security errors.
5. Manage resource utilization and forecast capacity needs.
6. Design scalable MQ solutions, including clustering and disaster recovery procedures.
7. Implement high availability and security configurations, including TLS/SSL and access controls.
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and interface with IBM support for issue resolution.
9. Participate in cloud migration and containerization projects, utilizing technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
10. Develop automation scripts and maintain documentation for MQ architecture and procedures.

Qualifications

1. Strong understanding of IBM MQ concepts and administration, especially on Linux.
2. Proven troubleshooting skills and experience with scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl).
3. Knowledge of networking, security, and cloud environments, including AWS.
4. Experience with containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
5. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
6. 10+ years of experience in IBM MQ administration in enterprise settings.
7. Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, CKAD, or CKA are preferred.
