Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior IBM MQ Administrator to support a large, complex enterprise banking environment. The role emphasizes IBM MQ (WebSphere MQ) administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and production support.

Ideal candidates will have strong Unix/Linux experience, particularly with RHEL or AIX, and must be able to manage high‑volume messaging environments while maintaining security and operational best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years in IT or 10+ years with Associate's degree or 12+ years with high school diploma
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on IBM MQ administration
• Strong Unix/Linux administration experience (RHEL or AIX)
• Experience with queue managers, channels, clustering, and distributed messaging
• Proficiency in shell scripting (bash or ksh) and TCP/IP networking
• Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance in the US

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and troubleshoot IBM MQ environments in enterprise applications
• Manage queue managers, channels, clustering, and message delivery
• Monitor queue depths and system performance for availability and reliability
• Troubleshoot MQ issues including failed transactions and dead letter queues
• Perform MQ installations, upgrades, patches, and configuration changes
• Administer Unix/Linux environments (RHEL and AIX)
• Develop shell scripts to automate tasks
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates and MQ security configurations
• Support incident resolution and root cause analysis
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams
• Maintain technical documentation and runbooks
• Participate in production support and on‑call activities
