Job Title: Senior IAM Security Engineer

Department: OCIO | Information and Identity Protection

The Senior IAM Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, operating, and improving identity and access management (IAM) technologies and practices. This role manages enterprise authentication systems, balancing security and usability. Key responsibilities include leading enterprise web single sign-on (SSO) and multifactor authentication (MFA) services, acting as a subject matter expert, and supporting complex projects. The position involves monitoring and analyzing data to resolve technical or security incidents. Building strong partnerships with university stakeholders is essential for successful integration of Web SSO and MFA services.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Development and Delivery: Develops and implements strategies to enhance enterprise authentication services, aligning with organizational goals. Partners with IAM teams to deliver security programs focused on access controls, balancing risk and usability.
2. Service Oversight: Ensures the availability and reliability of services, with clear performance metrics.
3. Operational Excellence: Designs and operates incident and request processes to meet service level commitments and respond effectively to disruptions.
4. Stakeholder Engagement: Represents IAM teams to department leaders and university stakeholders, building positive relationships and delivering strategic solutions aligned with the university’s mission and values. Represents the university to external partners.
5. Roadmap Development: Develops and maintains long-term roadmaps for authentication services, aligning with strategic objectives.

Required Qualifications:

1. 6 years of experience leading IAM service delivery in complex environments.
2. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
3. Proficient in security and IAM concepts and controls (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST 800-63).

Desired Qualifications:

1. 8-12 years of experience leading large IAM teams.
2. Advanced degree in a related field.
3. Experience in higher education or similar environments.
4. Relevant security certifications (CISSP, CRISC, CISA).
5. Experience leading enterprise SSO and MFA services.
6. Proficient in IAM technologies and protocols (SSO, MFA, Federation, PAM, OIDC, OAuth, SAML, SCIM).

The targeted hiring range is $102,000-$112,000.
