Job summary

Canonical is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for Identity Management to build and evolve IAM APIs using Go and Python across Canonical's products and websites. You will own the design and delivery of identity features, ensuring security and scalability while collaborating with a distributed team.

Location is remote for Americas and EMEA regions; travel 2–4 weeks per year for events. Strong open source background and experience with OAuth/OpenID, LDAP, and Ubuntu are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Staff-level or senior software engineer with IAM experience.
• Familiar with OpenID, OAuth, LDAP and identity standards.
• Proficient in Go and Python; comfortable in Ubuntu environments.
• Open source mindset; experience working in distributed teams.
• Willing to travel internationally for events and releases.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a distributed team to lead technical efforts.
• Write and maintain web service APIs in Go and Python.
• Design and implement IAM features from spec to production.
• Review code and set quality standards across the team.
• Develop authentication and authorization endpoints and flows.
• Create Juju charms to manage operations.
