Job summary

Peraton is seeking an Infrastructure Automation Engineer to design, build, and maintain IaC/CaC pipelines for provisioning and managing enterprise IT environments at MacDill AFB. The role emphasizes Red Hat ecosystems, Ansible platforms, and automation to minimize manual deployments while enforcing security baselines and DoD STIGs.

Responsibilities include developing automated playbooks, integrating APIs across clouds and ITSM, and driving GitOps workflows.

Qualifications

• 12+ years with HS Diploma, 10 years AS/AA degree, 8 years with BS/BA, 6 years with MS/MA, 3 with PhD
• DoD/ DoW clearance requirements and compliance
• Experience with DoD STIGs and security baselines using Ansible/CaC

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy IaC/CaC pipelines for provisioning and lifecycle management
• Engineer and administer enterprise automation platforms (e.g., Red Hat Ansible, AWX)
• Write and optimize Ansible playbooks and scripts (YAML, Python, PowerShell, Bash)
• Automate DoD STIG enforcement and security baselines on RHEL and Windows
• Develop API integrations to connect automation platforms with cloud/IPAM/ITSM
• Collaborate with engineers to translate SOPs into automated playbooks and GitOps workflows
• Troubleshoot automation pipelines and API connectivity issues
• Maintain documentation for code, architecture, repos, and playbooks
• Provide guidance and training on IaC frameworks and deployment workflows
