Job summary

Ad Hoc is seeking a Senior Designer to shape information architecture, user research, and product design for a large public-sector portal. You will work with minimal oversight to influence long-term user experiences while ensuring accessibility.

You may lead design initiatives with government stakeholders, mentor teammates, and contribute to the design system across design, product, and engineering teams. This remote role supports nationwide collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience conducting and applying user research within digital products or services.
• Experience planning, conducting, and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative research.
• 2+ years focused on information architecture with work such as site maps, navigation, taxonomy, wireframes.
• Experience designing for a large, complex, content-rich website or portal.
• Experience working within an established design system and translating research into actionable design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the portal's information architecture and navigation structures.
• Lead IA efforts for high-traffic pages and cross-portal initiatives.
• Partner with external teams to align IA with enterprise standards.
• Plan and conduct user research to inform IA and design decisions.
• Synthesize data into clear findings and actionable recommendations.
• Create and maintain IA deliverables: site maps, user flows, wireframes, prototypes.
• Present findings to government stakeholders and product teams.
