Job summary

TYLin is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer to join our MEPIC Team in Chicago. The role covers design of instrumentation and control systems for water and wastewater facilities, pump stations and reservoirs, with field and factory testing responsibilities.

The candidate will lead PLC/DCS design and implementation, SCADA/HMI programming, and networked control systems, supporting project execution from concept through commissioning.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (PE preferred).
• 10–15 years in industrial engineering consulting with design/construction or controls integration.
• Water and wastewater experience preferred.
• Proficient in instrumentation and control design for process facilities.
• Experience with PLC/DCS and SCADA/HMI programming and integration.

Responsibilities

• Design instrumentation and control systems for water and wastewater facilities, pump stations, and reservoirs.
• Provide programming and integration services for SCADA and HMI systems.
• Witness factory and field tests of process control systems.
• Develop plans, specifications, and cost opinions for design projects.

The Senior I&C Engineer will be responsible for design of instrumentation and control systems and light system integration in water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations and reservoir facilities.Responsibilities & QualificationsProvide instrumentation and control system design services in water and wastewater treatment plant facilities, pump stations and lift stations. Provide office services during construction for related projects.Provide programming and integration services in conjunction with controls modifications and upgrades – add control points to existing SCADA systems, provide minor modifications to existing SCADA programming and HMI systems as required, including full station programming for process control facilities.Provide troubleshooting services as required to assist clients with equipment and control issues.Witness test factory tests of process control systems.Witness and troubleshoot field tests of process control systems.Prepare plans, specifications and cost opinions for design projects.Perform field data collection in conjunction with design projects.Prepare studies such as condition assessments and feasibility studies.Conduct client training sessions as required by projects.Education: BS degree in Electrical and Mechanical; Masters’ degree in Controls Theory a plus.Experience: Minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience in industrial engineering consulting performing design and construction services or controls integration; water and wastewater experience is preferred.Certifications and Licenses: PE is required.The candidate must have good working knowledge of the following:Application of Instrumentation for flow, temperature, pressure, position and level monitoring, including :magnetic flow metersUltrasonic and radar based detection instrumentsGas monitoring and air quality instrumentsPressure monitoring instrumentationAnalytical instruments including pH, Turbidity, ORP, suspended solids, chlorine.Development of detailed P&ID diagrams for complex process systems.Design of PLC based control systems implementationDesign of DCS based control systems implementationDesign of Control System networks and telemetry for instrumentation signalsDesign of network systemsApplication of communications protocols and networksDocumented experience of PLC programming for Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon, or General Electric processorsDocumented experience of HMI programming in one or more of the following : WonderWare, IFIX, RS View, Intellution.Additional InformationTYLin is committed to pay equity.
