Job description

For the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity for significant professional growth and the potential to collaborate with local and national teams. In this role, your responsibilities will include developing instrumentation and controls designs (specifications, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs), conducting control system startups for industrial and municipal projects, and collaborating with client development teams to support proposal development. We seek candidates with a proven track record in designing, testing, and startup of industrial control systems for municipal water/wastewater work. The role requires integrating Brown and Caldwell's service offerings to help clients solve their most challenging issues.

Responsibilities

1. Serve as an I&C Lead Engineer in stand-alone and multi-disciplinary design projects.
2. Develop P&IDs, wiring schematics, and control system architecture for industrial automation projects.
3. Create control strategies for automation controls.
4. Manage discipline-specific aspects of PLC and HMI automation projects, including development, testing, and startup.
5. Review submittals from contractors, vendors, and system integrators, acting as the owner's advisor.
6. Perform construction-level services, including submittal reviews, RFIs, and change orders.
7. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in both local and remote environments.
8. Produce accurate reports, documents, and memorandums.
9. Participate in value engineering, QA/QC, and review of subcontractor work.
10. Mentor local and remote staff within the Electrical and Process Automation Services group.

Desired Skills and Experience

1. B.S. in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
2. PE license preferred.
3. 15+ years in instrumentation and control design for water/wastewater or relevant industries.
4. Experience with industrial process automation, networking, and cybersecurity is a plus.
5. Proficiency with Revit/BIM, AutoCAD, or Bentley P&ID software.
6. Knowledge of electrical safety standards (NFPA 70E).
7. Strong communication skills.
8. Self-starter, results-oriented, able to meet deadlines.
9. Willingness to travel approximately 10%.
10. Effective in client and contractor interactions.

Salary Range

Salary varies by location and experience:

• Location A: $118,000 - $161,000
• Location B: $130,000 - $177,000
• Location C: $142,000 - $194,000
