Job summary

AMD is seeking a Principal Infrastructure Architect to shape the next generation of infrastructure supporting its Instinct environment, global labs, and data centers. The role focuses on moving from traditional labs to scalable, automated, cloud-like infrastructure, partnering with leaders to implement architecture across networking, virtualization, storage, and observability.

Qualifications

• Experience architecting and implementing large-scale cloud infrastructure (hyperscaler or neocloud).
• Deep cloud infrastructure architecture knowledge with transition to implementation.
• Strong networking knowledge and segmented networks.
• Experience with hypervisors and virtualization.
• Strong enterprise storage architecture understanding.
• Experience with observability and telemetry.
• Experience with IaaS and API-driven infrastructure.
• Experience automation and bare-metal infrastructure.
• Ability to drive roadmaps and coordinate across teams.
• Ability to influence senior leadership and vendors.
• GPU/AI data center or HPC experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the target-state architecture for AMD's global lab and data center infrastructure.
• Transform lab and data center environments into scalable, automated, cloud-like infrastructure.
• Translate architecture into actionable roadmaps and drive execution across teams.
• Evaluate technologies and services and provide architectural direction.
• Provide leadership across networking, virtualization, storage, observability, and IaaS.
• Establish priorities with managers and guide implementation of standards.
• Align infrastructure architecture and long-term direction with executives.
• Influence infrastructure technology and purchasing decisions.
• On onboarding, learn AMD's goals, current environment, and deployments.
• Develop longer-term roadmap for scaling architecture across AMD's infrastructure.
